What are botanical wax melts?

Botanical wax melts are small, scented pieces of wax that you place in a wax melt warmer (either electric or tea light-powered) to gently release fragrance into your home. Unlike candles, they don't have a wick — the wax is melted slowly by heat, which means you get a beautiful scent throw without any open flame. Our wax melts are made with a natural coconut wax blend and scented with premium, phthalate-free fragrance oils, so you can enjoy gorgeous home fragrance knowing exactly what's going into the air you breathe.

What is coconut wax, and why do you use it instead of soy or paraffin?

Coconut wax is a natural, sustainably sourced wax made from the cold-pressed oil of coconut meat. We chose it over soy and paraffin for a few good reasons. Paraffin is a petroleum by-product that releases toxins when burned — not ideal for your home or the planet. Soy wax is more natural but often heavily processed, frequently blended with paraffin, and a lot of it comes from genetically modified crops. Coconut wax burns cleaner and slower — typically 30–50% longer than paraffin — and gives an exceptional scent throw. It's also vegan-friendly, biodegradable, and just a more thoughtful choice all round.

Are your candles and wax melts vegan and cruelty-free?

Yes, absolutely. Every product we make is 100% vegan and cruelty-free. We use coconut wax (not beeswax), eco-cotton wicks, and fragrance oils that are fully vegan and never tested on animals. Our fragrance oils are also CMR-free, phthalate-free, and paraben-free, and all of our products are CLP compliant — so you can shop with complete confidence.

How long do wax melts last?

This depends on the strength of your warmer and the temperature setting, but as a general guide each wax melt cube will give you around 8–12 hours of fragrance. A lower heat setting means a more gentle scent release and a longer-lasting cube. Once you notice the scent fading, that's your cue to swap it out. The wax itself doesn't evaporate — only the fragrance does — so always wait for the wax to cool and solidify before removing it from your burner.

Are wax melts better than candles?

Honestly, it depends on what you're looking for — and plenty of our customers love both! Wax melts tend to give a stronger, more immediate scent throw and are great if you want to switch fragrances regularly or avoid an open flame (particularly useful if you have little ones or pets at home). Candles create a beautiful ambience with that warm, flickering glow, and our refillable coconut wax candles are designed to be a long-lasting, sustainable addition to your space. Many people use wax melts for everyday fragrance and candles for slower, more intentional moments. You really don't have to choose.

Are coconut wax candles safe to burn at home?

Yes — coconut wax is one of the safest, cleanest-burning waxes available. It produces significantly less soot than paraffin and burns at a lower temperature, which is gentler on your home (no black marks on walls or ceilings). We use eco-cotton wicks, which are free from the lead and zinc sometimes found in cheaper wicks, and our fragrance oils are carefully selected to be non-toxic and free from harmful chemicals. As with any candle, follow the standard safety guidelines: never leave a burning candle unattended, keep it away from draughts, and trim your wick to around 5mm before each burn.

What are refillable candles, and how do they work?

Our refillable candles are designed with sustainability at their heart. The glass jar is made to be reused again and again — once your candle has burned down, you simply bring the jar back to our Shrewsbury studio (or send it back to us) and we'll refill it with fresh coconut wax and fragrance for less than the cost of a brand new candle. It's better for your wallet and much better for the planet. The jars are also fully recyclable if you'd prefer, but we'd love to keep them in circulation for as long as possible.

Do you offer a wax melt subscription?

We do! Our wax melt subscription is a lovely way to keep your home smelling beautiful without having to remember to reorder. You'll receive a curated selection of our seasonal and bestselling scents delivered to your door at a frequency that suits you. It's a brilliant way to discover new fragrances, and subscribers occasionally receive a little something extra from us too. You can pause or cancel at any time — no awkward contracts or hidden fees. Are your products safe to use around pets?

Our Cockapoo Bella spends most of her time in the studio with us, so pet safety is something we think about every single day. Our fragrance oils are free from phthalates, parabens, and CMR substances, which is a great start. That said, cats and birds can be particularly sensitive to certain fragrance compounds, so we always recommend using home fragrance in well-ventilated spaces and keeping curious noses away from warmers and diffusers. If your pet has known sensitivities or respiratory issues, we'd suggest speaking with your vet. We're always happy to share full ingredient information if you'd like to check anything specific — just get in touch.

What fragrance oils do you use?

We use premium-quality fragrance oils that are specifically formulated for home fragrance use. All of our fragrance oils are vegan, cruelty-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free, and CMR-free (free from carcinogenic, mutagenic, or reprotoxic substances). We work with a single trusted supplier so we can maintain complete consistency in quality across everything we make.

Are you CLP compliant?

Yes — all of our in-house home fragrance products are fully CLP compliant. CLP stands for Classification, Labelling and Packaging, which is the UK regulation governing how potentially hazardous substances (including fragrance oils) are labelled and communicated to consumers. Compliance isn't just a legal requirement for us — it's also part of our insurance obligations and something we take seriously because the products you burn in your home really do matter.

Do you offer candle making workshops?

Yes, and they're a really lovely way to spend a few hours! Our workshops are held at our studio in Shrewsbury and are perfect for complete beginners. You'll learn everything from blending fragrances to pouring and finishing your own coconut wax candles to take home. They work brilliantly as a solo treat, a date, a hen do activity, or a gift for someone who loves home fragrance. Places are kept small so it stays personal and relaxed — you can find all the details and book your spot in the Workshops section of our shop.

How quickly will my order be dispatched, and do you offer free delivery?

We aim to dispatch all orders within 3–5 working days from our Shrewsbury studio. During busy periods — particularly around Christmas — it may be a little longer, but we'll always keep you informed. We offer free standard delivery on all UK orders over £45; a small shipping charge applies at checkout for orders under that threshold. We ship across the whole of the United Kingdom, and you'll receive a dispatch confirmation with tracking details as soon as your order is on its way.

What is your returns policy?

We want you to love everything you receive from us. If something isn't right, you have 30 days from the date of delivery to return it — items must be unused and in their original packaging. Because our products are handmade in small batches, we ask that you contact us before sending anything back so we can make the process as smooth as possible. If your order arrives damaged or there's been a mistake on our end, we'll always put it right. Just drop us a message with a photo and we'll take it from there.
