And it’s something I take seriously.
When I first started Aroma Quartz, I knew I didn’t want to hide behind vague language or buzzwords. Fragrance is nuanced. It’s chemistry, craft, nature, and regulation all meeting in one small object that sits in your home. Pretending otherwise never felt honest.
If you’ve ever read one of our ingredient lists and thought “that looks like a lot”, you’re not wrong — but it’s also not the full story.
Many of the ingredients listed are naturally occurring components found in plants, flowers, spices, woods, and citrus peel. They’re written in their scientific names because the law requires it, not because they’re unfamiliar or unsafe. Even essential oils and botanical extracts are made up of chemicals — nature and science aren’t opposites, they’re intertwined.
For me, clean fragrance doesn’t mean chemical-free. It means being intentional. It means removing known harmful substances, working within strict UK and EU safety standards, following IFRA guidelines, and choosing fragrance blends that are designed specifically for safe home use.
You may also see environmental warnings on our labels. These relate to the concentrated fragrance oils before they’re blended into wax and exist to encourage responsible handling and disposal. They’re about protecting waterways — not about suggesting that our candles are unsafe to enjoy in your home.
I believe you deserve clarity, not confusion. I’d rather explain something that looks complex than oversimplify it and risk losing your trust.
